Evaluation is a crucial component of CalFresh Healthy Living, University of California. Through quantitative and qualitative feedback from our participants, educators, and personnel, we are able to continually improve the CalFresh Healthy Living, University of California program. The current year's Nutrition Education Plan has further details on the evaluation expectations of each county program.
The evaluation framework includes a focused menu of 51 evaluation indicators that align with the SNAP‐Ed guiding principles and lend support to documenting changes resulting from multiple approaches for low-income nutrition education and obesity prevention. These approaches include individual, group, and family nutrition education and physical activity promotion and related interventions; comprehensive, multi‐level interventions in environmental settings; and community and public health approaches that reach a large segment of the population.
SMART is a mnemonic which stands for Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time. It is a way of developing specific goals for a project. Each of the CalFresh Healthy Living, University of California program's curricula have a specific set of SMART objectives. Ideally, participants taught with each curriculum will achieve the goals listed in that curriculum's SMART objective.
